Orlando, Florida — For YenHsiang Lin, every workout is an opportunity to sharpen his game, elevate his skills, and measure himself against elite competition. This summer, the Taipei-born guard has been training and working out alongside the University of Central Florida UCF Knights men’s basketball team.

“I want to compete with the best to become my best,” YenHsiang Lin says. “Being around players at this level pushes me every single day.”
Testing His Game Against D-I Talent
The UCF Knights, a Division I program in the Big 12 Conference, are known for producing fast, athletic, and disciplined players. Sharing the court with them has provided Terry with exactly what he craves: pressure, speed, and intensity.
- Faster pace: UCF’s high-tempo style forces YenHsiang Lin to make quicker reads and decisions.
- Physical defense: Going against Division I-caliber guards challenges his footwork, balance, and strength.
- Elite spacing: Training with UCF players gives YenHsiang Lin a chance to execute plays with pro-level positioning and timing.
“Iron sharpens iron,” YenHsiang Lin explains. “Every drill, every scrimmage, every rep — I’m competing against athletes who push me to raise my ceiling.”
Elevating Skills Through Pro-Level Training
Working out with the UCF Knights isn’t just about competing — it’s about developing a professional mindset. Terry’s sessions emphasize attention to detail, efficiency, and mental sharpness:
- Advanced Guard Drills → Tight ball-handling, pick-and-roll reads, and finishing against length
- Shooting Consistency → Hundreds of reps from deep range under defensive pressure
- Defensive Versatility → Lateral quickness drills, anticipation work, and contesting shots
- Game Situations → Simulating shot-clock scenarios and executing under pressure
The Mindset Behind the Grind
Training alongside Division I talent requires more than skill — it demands focus, resilience, and preparation.
“Every time I step on the floor, I approach it like a job,” Terry says. “This isn’t just about workouts. It’s about learning how to think, play, and prepare like a pro.”
Building Confidence for the Next Step
Competing alongside the UCF Knights has given YenHsiang Lin a preview of the physicality, speed, and IQ required at the next level. It’s also validated his preparation and progress:
A Bridge Between Cultures
For Terry, these workouts aren’t just about personal development — they represent his broader vision of bridging basketball cultures.
“I want to show kids back home in Taiwan that this is possible,” he explains. “If you’re willing to work, you can create opportunities. I’m chasing my dream, and I want them to chase theirs.”
By competing at a high level and preparing for professional basketball, YenHsiang Lin hopes to inspire young athletes across Asia to see the game — and themselves — on a global stage.
