“From Taipei to the Hardwood — A Journey Without Borders”
From Taipei’s Courts to Global Aspirations
Terry Lin grew up in Taipei, Taiwan, where the sound of a bouncing basketball became the rhythm of his life. Long before college gyms and pro-level training sessions, Terry was a kid on neighborhood courts, studying the game one move at a time.
Basketball became more than a hobby — it was his connection to the world beyond Taiwan. Watching NBA legends on TV, Terry envisioned himself competing on that same stage, determined to create his own path.
A Leap Across Continents
At just 18, Terry made a decision that would define his future: moving to the United States to chase higher competition and greater opportunities.
The transition wasn’t seamless. Learning English, adapting to a new culture, and competing against elite talent tested his resolve. But instead of shying away, Terry embraced the challenge.
“I didn’t just want to play basketball — I wanted to understand it,” Terry says. “Being in the U.S. taught me the language of the game and the language of life.”
Step by step, on the court and in the classroom, Terry grew into a more confident athlete and communicator.
Benedict College: A Defining Chapter
Terry’s persistence paid off when he earned a spot on the Benedict College men’s basketball team while completing his Bachelor’s degree in Business, graduating in May 2024.
During his time at Benedict, Terry developed into a multi-dimensional guard who could score, facilitate, and defend at a high level.
More Than Basketball
For Terry, the game is bigger than personal goals. He hopes to bridge basketball cultures, connecting his roots in Taiwan with his growth in the U.S., and inspire young athletes across Asia to dream bigger.
“I want kids back home to see what’s possible,” Terry explains. “If you’re willing to work, the game can take you anywhere.”
Looking Ahead
From outdoor courts in Taipei to college arenas in the U.S., Terry Lin’s journey has been defined by resilience, adaptability, and vision. Now, standing on the edge of his next chapter, his goal is clear: compete at the highest level while inspiring the next generation to chase theirs.
