Frisco, Texas — From the outdoor courts of Taipei to the hardwood of American college gyms, Terry YenHsiang Lin’s journey has been anything but ordinary. Now, the former NAIA point guard is taking the next step in his basketball career as he tries out for the Texas Legends, September 20, 2025, the NBA G-League affiliate of the Dallas Mavericks.
For Lin, the moment represents years of sacrifice, growth, and relentless pursuit of a dream.

“This opportunity is the result of every early morning workout, every challenge I’ve faced, and every lesson I’ve learned,” YenHsiang Lin says. “I’m grateful, but I know the work isn’t finished.”
Why the Legends Tryout Matters
The Texas Legends are more than a minor-league team; they’re a launchpad to the NBA. As the official G-League affiliate of the Dallas Mavericks, the program has developed and showcased countless players who went on to reach the NBA.
For Lin, this tryout is a chance to demonstrate the qualities that have defined his journey:
- Speed and creativity as a playmaker
- Toughness and energy on the defensive end
- Work ethic and resilience, shaped by his international path
Looking Ahead
No matter the outcome, Terry YenHsiang Lin’s presence at the Texas Legends tryout is proof of his growth — from a young dreamer in Taiwan to a professional-ready guard competing for a spot in the NBA’s development system.
“This is just the beginning,” YenHsiang Lin says. “My journey has always been about breaking barriers and inspiring others. I’m here to prove that hard work and belief can carry you anywhere.”
